Charles Cohen
Charles Cohen was born and raised in South Florida. He attended Coral Gables High School and then Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana where he graduated at the top of his class Magna Cum Laude. Charles was accepted to the prestigious honorary society, Phi Beta Kappa. Phi Beta Kappa is America’s most prestigious academic honor society bestowed upon the best and brightest liberal arts and science undergraduates from 290 top schools across the United States. It utilizes highly selective merit-based invitation process that recognizes academic excellence. Charles went on to procure his Juris Doctorate from the University of Florida School of Law in 1980. He has been practicing law continuously in South Florida since 1980.
Upon graduating from law school Charles worked at a large firm in Dade County and then moved to Broward County where he gained extensive litigation experience as a public defender. Next, Charles worked for two reputable law firms specializing in personal injury and wrongful death.
In 1985 Charles established and became the managing partner of the Law Office of Charles H. Cohen focusing exclusively on personal injury and wrongful death cases across the entire state of Florida. The Law Office of Charles H. Cohen is presently one of the most established and well respected personal injury firms in Florida.
Charles has helped thousands of individuals obtain millions of dollars. Through his law firm, Charles has committed his life to representing clients who tragically have either been injured or killed as a result of the negligence of someone else. Many of the injuries have been catastrophic. During these tragic events Charles has stressed, “When a family has lost a loved one, it is very important to be there every step of the way to render advice and legal counseling to assist in any way possible. There is nothing more important than your health or the loss of a loved one.” Charles is a warm, compassionate person who empathizes with the loss his client is experiencing.
Charles understands the importance of listening carefully to a client in order to fully appreciate how the injury has adversely affected the life of his client. Charles is a member of the Florida Bar, the Florida Justice Association, the Broward County Bar Association and he is a licensed Florida Real Estate Broker.
Charles is married to Karyn and they have three beautiful daughters. He supports several charities in the community. He also helps those less fortunate by performing pro bono legal work. In his spare time, Charles enjoys reading, tennis, golf, skiing, fishing, watching the Dolphins, Heat and Hurricanes and spending time with his wife and family.
Emmi Vainio
Emmi Vainio is an associate attorney of the Law Office of Charles Cohen. Born in Finland, she moved to Louisiana and Maryland before moving to Florida with her family in 1997. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the University of Florida in 2010 and her J.D. Degree from Nova Southeastern University Shepard Broad College of Law in 2014. Emmi was a member of both Moot Court and Law Review during her time at Nova Southeastern University.
Upon graduating, Emmi volunteered at Coast to Coast Legal Aid of South Florida for a few months before joining the Law Office of Charles Cohen and focusing on personal injury cases, including auto accidents, slip and falls, and wrongful death claims.
